woody-cdas Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Was driving home the other day when this little car caming rushing up my backside obviously wanting a little race. Normally I just let them past as I believe there is a time and a place for that sort of shananagans - like the race track. Anyway this guy would not let up, he kept backing off and racing up behind me. It was obviously a turbo by the sound of the dump valve but I thought it was a nissan sunny or pulsar or similar, not sure what reg it was. Eventually I had enough and put my foot down thinking I would leave him behond but no he stuck to my ar5e like the preverbial to a blanket [:$] I could not shift the guy - in fact if he had been in front I think he would have left ME behind [:$] I was p***** off to say the least that this little black car had been able to stay with me so close - I was also more than a little annoyed with his proximity to my rear bumper on several occasions[:@]. He turned off of Poverest Road half way down - can't remember the name of the road. It turns out it was a mazda 323 - I saw the guy pulling out of Halfords in Cray Ave yesterday. Would love to know what the hell he has got under the bonnet - anybody on here know the guy - he had a mate following him as well - i think that was a mazda too. Its got one spot light in the bumper and the other has been removed for intake purposes I would guess. Anyway - I NEED MORE POWER NOW[:@]
wedmonds1 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 lol... I think we should know enough by now to understand that any car can be made quick. More and more are coming of the production line with high power figures as standard I was approaching the Texaco garage in farningham and a focus was doing the exact same so i let him pass. I was on the phone at the time (hands free) but gave him a little rev to say 'go on then' and he went like a bat out of hell. Across the roundabout and up towards brands hatch. Trouble was he went in the centre of the road, across the whilte hatching, dirt, stone & crap going all over the place and nearly lost it going around the bend where you would turn right to Enysford. What a numpty.... I did not follow as i did not want to be the one explaining to the ambulance and police that i saw the whole thing as i was chasing him.
Guest leebo77 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Matt, I've seen it parked in PC World - young fella drives it. Didn't know that it could shift 'cos it looks like a POS.
baser999 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Slightly off thread , but there's an Asian guy works in the chemist on the Slade drives an horrendous looking Punto? - that two/three way paint effect (green/mauve/bronze) , very loud sound system and 'stainless steel' looking wheels - might even be spinners lol. Now that really looks a pos! He travels to and from the Welling area so you may have even spotted him. Never seen it on an open road but can't imagine its quick since he's clearly a real poser.
baser999 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Yep, seen him. [+o(] You'll agree thats one helluva tacky motor - all bling and more bling [] He really needs the 'Muppet Show' theme tune blaring out to finish off the whole package lol
monkip1 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Woody, what sort of power figure's do you think you might have? As for a Mazda 323, i wouldent give it respect if it made the N-CAP most safest car award. I hate Punto turbos, i really do, there one to two dotted about in Bristol. And i mean yeh they are quick but Do they all have to be orange, with badly flushed tailgates and the sort of exhusts that make a grannys teeth fall out. Monki.
prodrive tony Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Its a weird one?? I had trouble with a turbo Golf IV once (300 miles on new engine mind) and on sunday I out sprinted a new Porsche turbo from70 to 130?? Having the right gear selected helps... Go for the Apexi Ecu matey??
daniel Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 and a TD05 and FMIC that should sort him out, with a de-cat you could get over 300 BHP

Monki, Somewhere between 260 and 280bhp although I haven't checked the engine number matches the checklist i have for figures. It's a JDM MY96 WRX so I think it was around the 260 mark out of the factory. I have done a few mods but noting major performance wise. Have been in talks with TSL since last week about having a rebuild as my ends are sounding a bit knocky on idle. With the rebuild I am looking to get around 360-400bhp - that should see off most things - not that I do that sort of thing often. I'm getting married next year as well so it's gonna be an expensive year!!

Lee - you must have seen the silver UK Classic then with the grey decals - that's always parked in PC World near me. I didn't get a close enough look at it to tell if it was a POS or not - I was too busy getting angry!! LOL Trust me though mate - don't go near that mazda till you have the RB, then smoke his a$$ for me [Y]. and tell him he drives to close to people!
woody-cdas Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 and a TD05 and FMIC that should sort him out, with a de-cat you could get over 300 BHP Daniel, I've got a TD05 - or did you mean the 16G/20G? I might do some minor mods before I get it to TSL (need to save up for the TSL rebuild). Decat is definitely on the list as is a FMIC or bigger TMIC.

Go for the Apexi Ecu matey?? Yep mate Apexi is on the list too. LOL - I tried all the gears mate [:$]- although he did catch me off guard when I was in 3rd doing 35mph. If it happened again I would try a bit harder but like I said I don't like doing this in built up areas - there is a time and a place for it. So watch out MAZDA BOY![:@]
