craigy Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 right deano boy has big problems with his stunnig scoob, and he is really down about it, so much so he is thinking of leaving the scooby scene, i dont want this to happen cos he has a minter, first of all he has passed a message on to me to say thanks to everyone who got him home from santa pod, i took him 1 hour to get from the stand to the pay booth, then it must of fell into limp home mode, and although cutting out at every junction and round abouts, a few near crashes he got it as far as ayelsbury, were it died, wimpy, leigh, sarah, you guys were great, i cant stress enough how greatfull they are for all you done for them, they owe you a beer of 3 right back to the car it will start , run for a second or 2 then cut out, battery is dead now due to the efforts to fix it road side, so the main question is were can we get a local ish well known specialist that can pick the car up and have a good gander at it? dean is willing to get the car put on the rolling road a proffesionally tuned any help is greatfully recieved again the help from the club folk touched both dean anh helen so thanks once again
TINO.wrx Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 my old classic, i had a prob with and i was driving along then all of a sudden no power so pulled into a layby, and went dead, then tried starting, started ok then dead, got AA but they didnt know, got to subaru and they said it the MAF well that lasted a week before the same thing so all i done was unclip the MAF and if still runnin then that ur problem solvbed. ps subaru told me to do this if it went again, BUT drive steadily home!!!! sorry long winded

TINO.wrx Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 just after the air filter box, ther is a lead comin off the plastic pipe, just pull the plug out then start it, if runs then get a new maf

deano boy Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 fellas your help was spot on, although time will tell if thats definatly the issue we tryed running it for the first time today, same prob we then disconnected the maf plug . the car ran at 1200 rpm, then dropped down to 200-250 rpm, stayed running but at thoose sort of revs tryed its damdest to cut out so gonna get a MAF sensor for it and then try to sort out the idle but its looking good thanks steve, craigy said you were a top bloke [Y] deano

TINO.wrx Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 ill try n see if i can find some old reciepts as it was nearly 2 yrs ago, not sure how much, i got mine from subaru, as i didnt know any car clubs to ask, and cos i didnt know what was wrong they had the car and let me know what it was, then it went again but cos i knew bout it i disconnected it then went to subaru n tell them to fixed as under warrenty!!!! could try ebay, but second hand and it mite not work, and there are dif types something to do with coloured stickers!!! sorry cant be of much more help steve
