Bought_a_pup Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Engine has just went on classic 95 WRX looks like oil pump went followed by the main crankshaft bearings. Fortunatly i had just sold it 5 minutes before hand. However the guy i sold it to is a bit miffed to say the least. On e-bay and the likes you can get engines for EJ20 92-95 for about £650 with six months guarentee but is there anything i need to be aware off. Like will there be any mods required any potential pitfalls i need to be aware of. PS only sold it on cause i bought a new 2.5 STI Type D and its magic..
nick280 Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 OF SIMILAR AGES AFAIK the import WRX engine is a different lump to the uk turbo & legacy engine. Pistons, heads, cams, plug cap coils are just to name a few differances. If you do buy a UK turbo/legacy engine, swap the heads off your WRX engine and use a recommended head gasket to bring compression ratio back to the right level. As far as phisically fitting, it will do. Everything will swap over. Hope that helps.
