classic gear box numbers

hi guys needing some info about the g/box numbers  q1 is it the white plastic lables on thel/h side on the bellhousing  at the starter hole  if it is which one denotes  the final drive ratio q2 if not then where is it  thanks  geo[:)]

George, yes it is. ID Starts TY7xxxxxxx

 The code does not use a sequence to denote final drive you just have to look the code up. Things that can be determined at a glance though are:

TY752 Ph1 Box

TY754 Ph2 Box

TYxxxVNxxx 1:1.1 Transfer gears, (To be honest this also tells you it has a 3.9 final drive Ratio)

TYxxxVBxxx 1:1 Transfer gears, (can be either 3.9, 4.11 or 4.44)
