Pants Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Here s the prob Recently purchased a full de-cat system from scooby clinic i ve fitted the cat back section and silencer for now(tasty peice of kit)a little worried about the de-catted downpipe(it s massive 3 inch all the way back). Read a few posts/threads saying i should nt need a re-map also read a few saying i would 1.Will the engine be ok without a re-map? am i gonna melt stuff pistons etc? 2.If i need a re-map can the 97 uk ecu be re-mapped or will i have to replace it? 3.How much will a re-map set me back? Look forward to your replies cheers paul
Dalthegooner Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 1. Definitely go for the full decat. It is the best £ to BHP mod you can do. Getting a remap does get the best out of the exhaust swop but its not essential. When you do it reset the ECU 2. I'm sure I've read that Jolly Green Monster (AKA Simon) has recently got/is getting a new bit of kit to remap the earlier ECU's. Get in touch with him and he will help you out. 3. Your looking at £500+
Baz69birds Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Im FULLY DECATED, & ive not had a remap, & my car is fine.

Baz69birds Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Quote Sorry Baz but what about the new engine you had fitted Bottom End went on my motor 1 months after flame kit/Decat was fitted Was told by MECHANICS its been on its way out for ages.. & having the DECAT would NOT have caused that...[]
