Hi, i finally want to get my car abit more secure. who did you get to fit your alarm and which model did you go for? I was looking at the clifford c650 fitted for £350 at Sextons Maidstone (be looking at around £400 once they fit a electric motor in the pass side door). Not really looking for anything too fancy just want something thats cat1.

i've got a viper 480xv fitted to mine by precision alarms on canvey island. they came to my house to fit, very good job done. viper is supposed to be a more reliable brand of clifford. it comes with a pager alarm fob which lets you know if your car is being tampered with. got a good deal on mine with a full closure system and door solenoid fitted. might be worth a call. they also do the clifford range but they talked me into the viper. good luck, matt

Mine's Clifford, not really been that impressed with it though.  Had it fitted at home.

If you do for go for Clifford, make sure it is fitted by a Clifford trained engineer otherwise the warranty is worthless.

My clifford was good for the first year, it now plays up when the weather changes and doesnt want to let me in the car, usually when i want to go to work at 5am !!! [:S]

Same here and key fob batteries now last about 2 months max before they need replacing.

Got a sigma on mine - no problems except when I park it up in Eltham High St area when it won't work - very strange, although I think it might be something to do with the masts on top of the BT building next to the Police station

Thanks for your comments, seems clifford are abit overrated. The viper seems good but probably V expensive, can i be abit cheeky and ask how much you paid for yours m8.

Thanks.

I usually fit my own,,, but when it came to it I got an old friend of mine, AutoSparx to fit it. I've spent many an hour in their workshop watching ( and sumtimes helping out) and I have no probs with their work.. take a look at the site  www.autosparx.com if you go there tell them I sent you as Mick is an old buddy of mine :D

Not telling what I have fitted, but it isnt a clifford and is a Cat 1 parked up on my drive with lots of security lights and a light sleeper listening out ( and I sleep with a tazer under my pillow ! ) It would be hard work for me to get round and I know how to fit them....

Not had a prob with it and not even had to change the battery in 3 years !

Thats a great price m8, Thanks alot for asking. I've got a budget of £400 to spend on a alarm do you think this would be enough with fitting and the extras like door soleniods etc. Ifso i'll be giving them a bell sometime this week.

Thanks

I'M SURE THEY CHARGED ME £50 FOR THE DOOR SOLENOID AND £50 FOR THE FULL CLOSURE SYSTEM, SO IF YOU GO TO THEM YOU SHOULD STAY ON BUDGET. WORTH A PHONE CALL AND TRY TO HAGGLE, DON'T TELL THEM YOUR BUDGET AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO. MIGHT BE WORTH TELLING THEM YOU'LL SING THERE PRAISES ON THIS FORUM IF THEY GIVE A DISCOUNT. THEY MADE A MISTAKE WHEN THEY QUOTED ME OVER THE PHONE, BUT THE BOSS STUCK TO THE PRICE THEY QUOTED ME. ONLY TOOK THE GUY ABOUT THREE HOURS TO FIT. HE SAID THEY DO LOTS OF IMPREZA'S AND HE CERTAINLY KNEW HIS WAY AROUND MY CAR. ALARM ALSO HAS ANTI HIJACK BUILT INTO IT WHICH, WHEN TAKEN, IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, IT WILL NOT RESTART EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE ALARM FOB. THIS CAN BE TURNED ON OR OFF.  BEST I COULD FIND FOR THE MONEY. REGARDS MATT

One hint for those of you who park their cars outside at night.

Cordless, rechargeable baby monitors. The kind that trigger when the volume reaches a certain point.

Stick one on your front seat and the receiver by your bed every night. If someone professional bypasses your alarm, but opens your door, it will wake you as if you were in the car.
