mick_weatherill Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I got some fancy dust caps with the subaru logo on for my wheels about 6 months ago . I lived in Dartford on a main road as some of you know .Well i put these fancy caps on and every morning i used to notice one missing .[:@]So i got another set but still they kept going So i had a brain wave .Do them up so tight they couldnt get them off without some tools .That solved them going missing [].But Im off to Dorset in the morning and thought it would be a good idea to check the car i.e oil, water ,tyre pressures !!![8-)]Well even i cant get the bloody things off now [:'(] So its off to kwik fit for 4 new valves shortly [8-|]The moral is dont buy these dust caps in the first place but if you do let the thieving gits have them it will save you money in the long run [Y][][A]
wedmonds1 Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 You could always purchase those dust caps with lights on them and place them on your neighbours cars. That way the 15 year old that is stealing them because they are obviously far out of his price range will think "hey those ones are Subaru but THOSE ones look well cool innit!" before promptly nicking them. Would be a lot cheaper aswell.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> On a slightly sillier note, you could always disguise yourself as a dust cap and lie in wait... []
craigy Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 i get the fancy subaru ones aswell but mine had the very small allen key nut in them so you do the dust cap on then tighten the allen bolt up , just leave the allen key in the glove box craigy

Montythegod Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I had a similar problem with mine going missing.. until I see them on a bike that rode past me in my street...... Lets just say I got them back and it hasnt happened since and the kids cross the road when they go past my house,, lol
turismo Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 get yourself some chromies. bought these when some little s**t kept nicking mine . look nice and you can only get them off with the supplied key.
woody-cdas Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I had the fancy ones before on my Audi and they kept gettin nicked so now i just use the black plastic ones - far cheaper and no one wants to pinch them. Might try a set of those allen key ones tho - they sound alright - mind you it won;t be long till the thievin bu99ers start carrying allen keys with them!

Scooby Hoo? Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Started off with the normal screw on subaru type and had three sets removed by some kind young lad who must have thought that he'd save me time checking the tyre pressures each time I went to the garage. It worked but I did prefer them on , looked so much nicer. So off we go to our local dealer who, now calls me by my first name, and he recommends that I fit the Prodrive caps with the allen , great just wot I'm after, pay the man and set off home to fit them straight away. That will stop them going for a walk about on there own. Take the allen key in doors, so as not to lose it, and goes of to bed happy in the knowledge that my new dust caps will still be on the car in the morning. The young lad who was so kind before, got so upset by my unreasonable behavior that he took it opon himself , Not to prize them off , Not to take the whole wheel including locking nuts , No he takes the whole car, o bless his little Cotton socks. What have I learnt from this, air is free and you don't have to lock it in. Only joking I think the car is still in the garage best just go and have a look.[][][]
