baser999 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Have looked through the DVLA site and my understanding of the position is as follows. The graduated system of car tax based on car emissions was initially introduced for cars registered on or after 1 March 2001. The top rate was band F relevant to vehicles with CO2 emissions of over 185. Todays Budget has brought in a new top rate band G for cars registered on or after 23 March 2006 having CO2 emissions in excess of 225. This new band will be applied to all licences issued after tomorrow, 22 March 2007, for private cars falling in that band. It seems to me that its only those of us that have bought a car that was first registered on or after 23 March 2006 that are going to be affected but then only if the CO2 emissions are in excess of 225. Have a look at www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/forms/v149.pdf
granby Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I was trying to work that out on the dvla website [8-)], all i know is my car has a C02 emissions of 219 and is in band F

Apart from Leebo I don't know if there's anyone in the club whose car was registered after that date?
darryl_martin Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I was trying to work that out on the dvla website [8-)], all i know is my car has a C02 emissions of 219 and is in band F Thanks Ian, I knew the figure was close to 225 but couldn't remember if it was just over or just under. Obviously messing about with the cats/mapping would'nt affect the figure[A]
Baz69birds Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 You also may find this could be on MODEN CARS, Us CLASSIC are in the CLEAR [] i think!!!
baser999 Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 The relevant point is that its only applicable to cars first registered on or after 23 March 2006. You could therefore drive a car registered before that date with really high CO2 emissions but you'd not be caught by the new rates.

daniel Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 So thats means most of us are uneffected is that right. Sorry leebo [N] but on the bright side you will be driving a RB320[H]
Guest leebo77 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 At least the dealership are putting the first 12 months on it (although they're getting their money back through the sale price). Must admit tho - the emmissions do seem very high. Might have to plant a tree to compensate.
daniel Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Thats it stick a wind turbine on the back and you have your good bad balance
