upsoluteSTi Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Had to take my scooby out for a survey today as none of the company cars are available. The place i went today didnt have any V-power or Ultimate so i had to top up £10 with 95 RON to get back to aberdeen, i must have about 1/4 of a tank or less left + £10 standard 95RON, will this damage my engine? I look on the fuel cap that it say to fill up with 98 RON ONLY but i have no choice otherwise i wont reach aberdeen.
cullenmin Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 It wouldna damage your engine unless its tuned or if you thrash it. Ive done this before and just took it easy when I couldnt get V-power Rich
upsoluteSTi Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 by tuned you mean re program to use on specific fuel grade only or remaped with different ecu? i have ecutek remaped and de-cat exhaust system but i didnt thrash it on the way back to aberdeen []. will top the tank up with v-power tomorrow.
thefastone Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 as far as i'm aware, Your ok to use normal unleaded, but your car just wont run so well, I think thats a thing about the uk car market, your car MUST be capable of running SAFELY on 95RON... And to be fair, I dont think a tenners worth would be enough to destroy your engine unless it was diesel that you were putting in... []
johns Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 It will be fine. I've had to fill my car up with £10 of normal fuel a few times now. Just take it relatively easy until you empty the tank (about 20 - 30 miles past the wanring light coming on), then fill up with V-Power/Super. I always carry a bottle of Octane booster with me these days, especially if I'm heading somewhere remote just in case. John
Johnny50 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I've only ever used 95ron in mine. Never used it in my last scoob, but the previous owner of my current one was an old codger, and 98ron wasnt available where he lived, so it's ran on that since it was new. Tis now on 94k and still going strong.
upsoluteSTi Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 good to hear that! i will wait until fuel warning light come on before refill it with v-power. cheers guys
