How much would it cost roughly...

for a new set of exhaust system including downpipe with sportscat (to passed emmision?) reason for asking this is that my car currently fitted with full de-cat system but for some reason all the section has been welded together rather than fixed with bolts so this must be a custom made exhaust i assumed [:@] im not a big fan of this and would like to replace to somthing else in the future, with cat if possible for mot purposes. My car also been remaped with ecutek if i change the type of exhaust will this damage my engine or this only apply to different size of downpipe only? Im new to all this as i only have my scooby for about 3 weeks and there is still so many things to learn, any help would be much appreciated.

Scoobyworld Ninja sportscat downpipe for your car £299 cheepest you will get i think. then pick your center and backbox to suit your tastes. As for your map im not sure how it will affect it.

Is the system on the car just now the standard 2.5" bore pipe or a "3 inch one? and is the downpipe open mouth?

If its open mouth and 2.5 inch pipeing i wouldn`t think that the sportcat with centre and BB would affect your map too much as the sport cat is said to have lilttle effect on output compared to a decat.

HTH and im sure someone with better knowledge or even someone who is good at english will help out lol hope my post made some sense.

Cheers Greig

opps cost was your question eh well £299 for sportcat form scoobyworld and £90-100 for Stainless steel center section and bout 220-260 for a BB unless you find a nice second hand one whick shouldn`t be too hard look on Snet for sale loads to be had and for £100-150 so all in. £500-700 depending on what you go for.

Then the only other cost you may have is if you need a top up map for the car but they are alot cheaper im told if you already have the  ecutek license i think i heard a figure of £190???

I think its a 3"  as it has been replaced same time when the remaped was done by the look on the reciept. im not sure if its an open mouth or not ([:$] what is the different?)  So let me get this right, i need a sportcat downpipe (scoobyworld ninja sportscat), centre section and backbox to make up the full system and on top of that i also need a top up map? why do i need this top up map? sorry if im a little thick [;)]

If you don`t want the hassle at mot time you need the sportcat but to be honset am sure a special garage could pass you with decat [:(] . You may not need a a top up map im just thinkin that if you change the system for different spec it will affect the back pressure and so your turbo spool up and boost and such like therefore a second map would sort the car to its optimum performance. am not the best tech mind here by a mile but hth mate and that someone wi better knowledge pipes up Greig

You would definitely want a map or at least a good checkup if you added a cat back into the system.

You could always visit a custom exhuast place and see what they could do with the system in terms of putting a cat into your existing pipe work, or at least breaking the system down into component parts so you can install a cat at a later date.
