It does take the p*ss.  It will change soon, once charges are levied on a transactional basis - ie, a quid for every direct debit, cash withdrawal, cheque etc...   ....once one bank jumps, more will follow.

Thing on Watch Dog the other week.

a company have worked out that banks charge you £25-£35 for going over drawn/paying DD when have no money in account etc.. & it costs them £3,

Give them a call & they will tell/ask you if you have been unfairly charged, & then they contact your bank, & ask them to Justify chargeing you that much, if they cant!!!

They refund all charges, up to 6 years...

Ive called them, im hopeing for ove £1000 minium [:P]

Anyone on here had any joy in getting refunded for bank charges over the last 6 years?

Blimey, the year before last I was getting over £1,000 per month in bank charges!  I could get a respray lol.....

Started mine last week, got to wait up to 8 weeks whilst the bank looks into my complaint.

Friend of mine just got £900 from Barclays & a letter saying "if you cash this cheque we will close your account"

So he took all the money out of his account.. & cashed the cheque in a different bank!!!

My cousin is rubbish with money, and has had loads of bank charges over the years.  He's successfully claimed back £1200 from First Direct, and £1500 from HSBC.  I'm not sure how he went about it, but I can find out if you like?

Ive got my statements from CrapWest around £2500.  Just in process of claiming.

Keep ya posted.

Good luck mate [Y]  Just sent of the request for my statements.

Did you have to pay an admin fee for the copies of the statements?

DONT TAKE NO SHIT FROM THE BANKS,

i claimed my charges back just before christmas, 6 years of charges came to £1300, threatened them with court and they offered £900 after a couple of months of argueing, turned that down and started court procedings, once procedings start you can add on 8% interest over the 6 years, so the claim went up to £1800 including costs etc. Then a couple of days before the court date they sent us a cheque for £1804, result [:(]

any info you need you can get from http://www.penaltycharges.co.uk/main_bank_charges.php this is the top site for info on this subject.

BM[:)] avin it!!!

Cheers, that's what I've been told.  I wondered what different people have been told.

Do you still have to be with the bank to claim??

I doubt it.  I'm not and still going ahead.  Seems they'll only terminate your account anyway once they've paid out so I'm also setting up a new account incase.
