Chris.Mcd Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Hi. I am new to Subaru's and also new to turbo'd cars so dont laught at my questions please lol. Well first of all if I add a BOV and an induction kit will I need to get my car remapped also for it to run well? I have been researching and seem to find that most people have troubles with adding BOV's and induction kits without having a remap after it. Furthermore is it better to just get a panel filter or just go ahead and get a induction kit ( Does look better in the engine bay lol)? Thanks Chris
fai17 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Yes you will need a remap no matter if it's a classic or newage.
Chris.Mcd Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Cheers Thought so, although alot of guys on scobby.net said they have been running them for years without a remap and have encountered no problems. Then again most say it will cause problems with the maf etc. I have WRX 01 Bugeye btw.
G.Mac Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Yup, if you add a BOV or dump valve you will not need a remap, but if you add the induction kit (apart from just an uprated filter) you should get a remap Graeme
fai17 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 With a recirc bov it will be ok without remap but with a vta bov you will defo need a remap...
fai17 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 And if you was going to get a remap you may as well get a full decat exhaust too[]
Chris.Mcd Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Sorry but what is a recirc bov? Only heard of a vta one before. Yeah full decat pipe is on the list also [] I have a NUR SPEC cat back exhaust system at the moment just need the decat downpipe to get rid of the two cats.
st3ph3n Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 The car runs as standard with a recirculating bov. All bovs work the same way in that when you close the throttle the compressed air in the turbo has no where to go, so the pressure is released. On a Vent To Atmosphere bov this air is vented to the outside world. On a recirculating one it is vented back into the intake, before the turbo. Hence recirculating. I've ran for over a year with a VTA on my 2005 WRX without a remap and haven't had any issues, but oil is changed regularly. The car is due for a map on the 12th of next month though for other reasons []
Chris.Mcd Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Ok thanks bud. I might try one and if it causes problems I will just take it off.
