baser999 Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 Hi Due to having to work early Saturday morning we are Booked for the 10.20 outward but will attempt to get an earlier train if poss. and will make our way too Abbeville ASAP returning on the 21.50. Any chance of a mobile contact (PM) if not able too locate you guys, Thanks. As you can see due to work commitments Badboy and his lady are travelling down from South Kensington but later than the main convoy so would everyone thats going (and going to have their mobile with them) mind letting him have their mobile number so he has a means of contacting us en-route. Suggest that you send him pm and ask for his number in return, that way the more that have it the better chance he can contact us. Thanx everyone [Y]

baser999 Posted June 30, 2007 Author Posted June 30, 2007 10 booked - think thats a couple more than last year [Y] I have prepared a summary of the proposed route and will let everyone have a copy when we meet next week. In advance of this, just in case anyone wants to have a look at a map or set up their satnav, the route is as follows: Leave shuttle terminal and pick up A16 s/bound towards Boulogne then p/up N1 through Hesdin l'Abbe, Samer, Montreuil, Wailly-Beaucamp, Nempont St Firmin, Vron and Nouvion en-Ponthieu before arriving in Abbeville. Return via Pont le Grand, Noyelles-sur-mer then p/up D940 towards Le Crotoy, Rue, Quend, Waben, Groffliers, Berck, Merlimont, Cucq, Trepied (bypassing Le Touquet) and Etaples then on to Dannes and St Etienne-au-mont which is just south of Boulogne. Continue on D940 up the coast via Wimereux, Wissant to the Shuttle terminal. We need to check in for the outward journey at 07:20 so should be aiming to leave Notcutts no later than 06:30 to allow time for grabbing a coffee/papers/euros etc. Apart from Sheepie (who's had to get the 07:20 train and Badboy Baza who's going to be running late) are we all meeting at Notcutts or at the terminal? Please don't forget radios and all your car and personal papers that are needed for the day. Has anyone else pm'd their mobile phone number to Badboy Baza - have given him mine and Tanias but had trouble with my phone in France last weekend and he'll need to be able to contact us over there as he and his lady are catching a later train and intending to meet us at Abbeville or en route. Thank you.
T123VOR Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Nice one Barry I'm happy to meet at Nottcutts at 06:15
darryl_martin Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Has anyone else pm'd their mobile phone number to Badboy Baza - have given him mine and Tanias but had trouble with my phone in France last weekend and he'll need to be able to contact us over there as he and his lady are catching a later train and intending to meet us at Abbeville or en route. Thank you. I've passed mine on as well. Unfortunately car is being a little uncooperative at the minute. Will see how it is later in the week[:@][:'(]

Guest leebo77 Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 What's the recommended items to take? Haven't taken the car outside of the UK yet so not sure on what the Gendarmes expect you to have. I was thinking GB sticker, headlight sticky's and copies of all documents. Anything else? Warning triangles, etc?
baser999 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Last time we went, someone posted up a definitive list, think it was Sheepie or Markie ? Its my understanding you MUST have full driving licence particulars - thats the paper bit and not just the licence you carry in your wallet; full car documents - registration particulars, insurance, mot; headlight convertors, spare bulbs and warning triangle. Other items are recommended, namely, 1st aid kit, hi-vis vests, fire extinguisher - provided we have a fair spread of these recommended items amongst us we should get by. No doubt someone will update or correct this list.
mark_sheepwash Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Evening all - all the info you need can be found here But one thing it doesn't say is that you must have a green card from your insurer I believe. Most of them give you free 5 day cover for trips abroad
baser999 Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Apart from Sheepie , who's going on the earlier train (yeah right lol lol lol) seems the following are meeting at Notcutts , 06:15 for 06:30 sharp , anyone else Baser999 , Trevor , Lee , Vicky [Y] Don't forget the radios......just in case someone gets left behind en-route ps thanx to everyone that pm'd Badboy their mobile.

Guest leebo77 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Yep. Rach just spoke to the ins co and they said that nothing is required.
baser999 Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Asked the Editor of True Grip if he'd be interested in a piece, with photos, of our trip and he's replied saying "yes please.....ASAP!" for probable inclusion in the Autumn edition which would be good and certainly get Kent Scoobies on the map for once. I don't mind writing the article but we need some decent photos taken, in as high a resolution as possible, which can then be emailed to him. So if we have any budding David Baileys amongst us nows our chance. The down side of course is hoping the weathers good on Friday so we can get the cars looking their best..........good weather on Saturday would help as well lol BBC weather site predicting 24c on Saturday - predominately sunny [H]
