Wildcard7 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Hi all, i'm new on here and in the process of looking for a quick subaru...was looking at P1's (although drb5's car is swaying me slighly at the moment!) and wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge of this car? (Who owned it, it's history, etc?) http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_...200704268474942 Any help/advice would be much appreciated Steven
dan_jess Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I havent heard any good reports about that garage. My friend went ther to look at another P1 they had in a while ago, he said it was a pile of s**te
dan_jess Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Oh and welcome to the forum [] Take ur time, the right car will come along
G.T. Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 id agree with dan just buy drb5s monster so much better than a P1 ,as squirrel says a P1 is just a jap type R with all the good bits taken off
scoobymadburd Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I've seen it up close, really nice inside etc and stunning to look at. My other half (WRC No 1) works down the road from them and if any of there high performanced cars need serviced etc then it goes to his garage maybe pm my other half but your always better to go test drive and see what u think IMHO. I talk to the guys from 1st choice they are nice guys and very helpful. Claire
Wildcard7 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 I've had a good look at it and heard it running, etc and it all looks fine to me, plenty trick bits as well! Does anyone know if it would be possible to pay a local specialist (or someone in the know) to have a look at it for a cost and give an honest opinion? I don't think the RAC, etc would be much help with this type of car, especially with all the mods?
GaryD Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 When we bought our scooby, we got the RAC to do the inspection on it. Altho they couldnt say about the mods, they are able to tell you if there are any faults or problems with any part of the car. I was really impressed with the RAC check, they picked up on a few very very minor things that didnt bother me, and I would never have noticed. It was expensive to get it done, but it was piece of mind knowing everything was ok and in good condition.
the squiggle Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I bought my Honda Civic VTi from there a good few years ago Coilpacks, Vtec valve and cam bearing failed within 100 miles Warrenty was only good for wiping my poo hole Avoid
dan_jess Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Think that will be the decision made right ther! []
fai17 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 £2500 for the FMIC????? All the expensive option makes you think you are getting a good deal but better to get check first by a pro.
fai17 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 BTW...you are much better off buying DRB5 classic
scoobymadburd Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I reckon the garage has piked up their act since a few years ago!!!! Get an RAC inspection have heard they are pretty good even with scoobs, before we bought the wagon we had now we were lookin at one down in Ayrshire and RAC inspected it for the guy who was in line to get it before us!! The inspection turned out everything was dandy and we were hoping the guy would reject the car but he didnt so we found another wagon. Rac will check any kind of car some of the inspectors are wiser than others, some might know a bit more about mods than others. Just your luck on the day!! Get it inspected and take it a test run. you'll know then how you feel about the car. Claire
duncan_stephen Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I bought a car from there about 4 1/2 years ago. Had no probs with the car but had an issue with the salesman when we met in stirling to do the change over. I believe they have another garage called Killermont car sales too.
sti pretender Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 At least with DRB5's car you know what you are getting and all mods have been done properly.
plsteve Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Sorry to sound very ignorant, but would you guys recommend getting an RAC inspection from an authorised dealership as well? Cheers Steve
