SEEVERS Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Hello all not been on for donkeys due to work (and not being able to get in to the forums, till i worked it out)...as above i fitted a new spoiler a good while back(when the weather was good)and sealed it with the gear that came with it,problem is it didn't work so i have water coming in to the boot.If i strip it out,can i seal the holes with silicone and put my spoiler back on....will this work. Cheers Del.
drb5 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Should do mate, but make sure it's completely dry when you do it. Use a heat gun or hair dryer, just to make sure.
TheTerminator Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Del, make sure the gromit that is on the hole for the brakelight wiring isnt leaking, water ingress is common from there. new gromit or plenty silicone lol... hope you get it fixed buddy...
SEEVERS Posted January 27, 2007 Author Posted January 27, 2007 Thanks all, stripped it back out and cleaned, washed and dryed the area(hairdryer)siliconed the holes, refitted the spoiler and put rubber washers over the bolts on the inside before the steel washers, also put a band of sticky foam all around the edge of the spoiler and got a better fitting gromit for the brakelight.....looks as if it should have done the trick. Used an Aquavac to hoover out all the water and dried all the interior of the boot....only thing is the wheel cover and carpet smell of dampness so they're getting a good airing at the moment. Hopefully that will be the end of it,cheers. Del.
