kennyf Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Ok here it is . Was in the boot and seen this wee flip switch marked cancel on the lock mechanism so like the "don't push button" I flicked it. Surprise surprise the remote release no longer works !!! D'oh school boy error !!! No hastle , I'll use the key , yes? No! Fecking boot lock wouldn't turn and is now half in/half out the boot !! So , where do I go from here , is it possible to open the boot if I remove the lock altogether? Unfortunately I don't have split rear seats!
Bought_a_pup Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Try squirting in some penetrating fluid like 5 in 1 this is normally really good at freeing of the gunk inside the lock which after a while of soaking andd working should free it off.
higgy Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Why not remove the rear seats and flip the swithch back to its previos possition. Higgy

kennyf Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Aren't some of the rear seat fittings in the boot ? As my seats don't split, should they still fold down ?

kennyf Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Ok I missed out some key info !!! Its a MY97 2 door .
Bought_a_pup Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 You can remove a speaker from the rear shelf and get in to unlock the boot by opening the lock. The small hole directly above the lock can has a lever which if you move unlocks the boot.
peter_reid Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I had the same problem when I bought mine except that some ned had tried to get into the boot so it was totally bu**ered. You remove the lower part of the back seats with the 4 bolts that hold it to the floor then there are 2 bolts that hold the back part on,once removed push the back up and it should them come out, then all you need to do is climb in and put the switch back.I got a new boot lock and key off flea bay for 6£ posted. Mine is a MY93 4 door so should be the same Pete
