craig79 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Alright everyone, I know this post is probably ancient but I'm looking at another set of alloys and subsequently a decision on tyre brand has to be made. My driving profile doesn't include track use at all only fast road at best. So is there a general tyre of choice with everyone ?? Also what is the correct width of tyre to go for to maintain a good geometry setup (18") ?? Cheers all.
derek_wright Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I do a lot off miles so cost has to come in to it Ive fond that falken although a budget tyre gives great levels of grip for the money and for 18 u need 215 or they will rub everywhere as Ive recently found after buying wheels whith 225 at least the wheel dealer changed them back for nothing
euan_r Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 i give a [N] to fedrals. gone for uniroyal rainsport given how its usually raining, very reasonably priced as well. yet to test them out fully as only got them on hogmany following sidewall puncture. most folk give f1 or toyo t1r a good rating.
jimser Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 225/40 18 for newage cars. i run dunlop sport on mine but i think toyos or eagle f1's are the most popular

I take it you've got a classic for 225's to rub ?? Thanks for the reponse mate. Craig.
frank c Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I've got the F1's but will be look for a change next time round, like these tyres for grip in the wet and dry but the soft sidewalls do my nut in.. Not decided what to go for next though.
Guest Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 im looking for the same thing mate fast road use but wont run out in 1500 miles etc i have falkens on my 18"s(when they are on the car) but i seen my local tyre dealer doing paradas 215/35x18 for 110 quid fitted so i might go for these in the spring neil
craig79 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 Duncan, Have seen these tyres mentioned quite a few times before, I take it they are a pretty popular brand, you rekon they would tick the boxes for me ?? Out o curiosity would you agree that I'd be looking at approx. £100 per corner for the toyo's ?? Craig.
iain_ogston Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Toyo T1R are excellent for the money, especially in the dry (don't use my car in the wet, it wheelspins too much). Mine were cheaper than 100 a corner but not 18". Recommended.
