AlanG Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Strange Alan-G. All i did to show the pic was copy your url and use the img /img tags at each end. Maybe possible it's your browser that might be an issue? Up until 2 days ago i couldn't do the pic thing on IE7. I was telling the guy i work with that there were coincidences between us (he's an Airdrie boy through and through) and he then proceeded to rattle off your number plate, so you must live fairly close to each other. Don't ask me where he stays in Airdrie though, i can never remember! lol. Where did you fly the Mig Alan?
G.Mac Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 well I mostly take part in SIDC events, mod and drive my car (I know I could be described as a bit sad!).. Graeme
Alan-G Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Alan, I'm currently sticking with IE6 regardless if I can/Can't post pics as I think IE7 probably has more bugs in it than our cats litter tray. The guy you work with, did he just get a new black SDI with the full bhoona PPP (pun intended Lol.) Mig was flown 3 times at a drag racing strip in York, Twice at the balado airfield ( "T" in the park fame) then after the house fire - "Flew" about 8 feet from the ceiling to the deck in a burning garage Lol.
4Hero Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 some interesting hobbies there! I like to build tables and wall feature thingies Designing/building/tinkering with my garden Photomanipulation using photoshop Collecting Vinyl figures (Gorillaz mainly) Collecting Autoart 1/18 scale models And playing with my nitro rc scoobie I also love music, and ofcourse, attending SIDC meetings []
thewelsho Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Neil: How do you find time to work with all that going on??? Garden looks a treat though, very nice. J
thewelsho Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I don't really have much time or any get up and go for hobbies. I loved playing football in a Saturday morning league, but gave that up last season. I took up painting last summer and did about a dozen before I put it on hold. Can't find pictures of the others but here are two I did about a year ago; I think they were my 5th and 6th efforts.
adamb Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 play football 3 times a week for my station and also play icehockey twice a week once for my station and once for rec team
AlanG Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Alan-G They guy i work with has no interest in cars at all but because there's not that many people with scoobs, he'd recognised the marque.. That will be Elvington you're talking about in York. A flying club was there during TOTB2 ("Ten of the best"). Very impressive site, it took a few minutes to realise they weren't full size planes!![]
Alan-G Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Hi AlanG Not Elvington in York, although I've been to a few model Jet meets there, but Melbourne Drag racing close to York is where the MiG29 was test flown by the designer "wee Jim Fox". He actually flew it over a neighbouring Dynamite Factory ! As the turbines run on Jet A1 (kerosene), on starting the two engines it smells just like being at the airport - Lurvly. I noticed a Turbo charger at Duncans place ( Hypertech) and it had a striking similarity to the turbines I had in the Mig. Maximum RPM from my turbines was 132,000 RPM (over 2000 spins/ second) After the fire, RPM was down to about 1 cycle a minute when turning by hand :-( The bearings had rusted pretty much solid with the water from the firefighters hoses and the initial heat of the fire, but were repairable and were repaired. But the MiG was gone so that was that. (Model aircraft ALL end up in the bucket 1 way or another unfortunately) Sending you a PM alan.
