golfdaft Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 I'm the one that started all this and now most of the scottish scoobies will have one!!, what is the best way to fit..... Come on Gus give us some step by step.... Pritty please.... Thanks Scott
gus the bus Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Here goes[8-|] 1) Take one windscreen and make sure it is clean and dry 2) With an able assistant place the sunstrip (with backing cover still attached) on the windscreen and mark to within a couple of mm of the windscreen edge around the sunstrip. Also, measure and mark the centre of the sunstrip and the centre top of the windscreen 3) Remove from the windscreen and with an ultra sharp blade trim the strip to size 4) Measure and mark the centre of the logo to be applied to the sunstrip 5) Lightly (and I say lightly) spray a mist of water on the sunstrip 6) with an able assistant remove the backing sheet from the logo 7) with the able assistant stretch the logo above the sunstrip and lay lightly on top of the middle of the sunstrip (matching up centres on both items) 8) with a flat edge ruler or edger press firmly on the centre of the logo and gently work to either edge removing water and air bubbles as you go (make sure each section is air and bubble free before continuing to the next) 9) once you have completed this process and the logo is attached to the strip then...... 10) lightly (and again I say lightly) spray a mist of water on the top of the windscreen 11) with an able assistant remove the backing sheet from the sunstrip 12) with the able assistant stretch the sunstrip and lay lightly on top of the middle of the windscreen (matching up centre of sunstrip with the top centre of the windscreen) 13) with a flat edge ruler or edger press firmly on the centre of the sunstrip and gently work to either edge removing water and air bubbles as you go (make sure each section is air and bubble free before continuing to the next) 14) ..........and once completed go around the edge of the sunstrip gently ensuring that the whole strip is sticking to the windscreen. 15) stand back and admire your work[] Please note* if you dont have an able assistant yer facked![][] Please also note* you could attach the sunstrip to the windsreen first and then the logo onto it once its fitted to the windscreen but, I personally think its easier to centre the logo on the sunstrip before applying to the windscreen. Up to you tho Hope that helps? Gus Note to Brian Rallye 6-Have I missed anything mate????[:S]

micra_wrc Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 i guess that your "able assistant" must be tall enough to reach the centre of the windscreen......... so thats me out then hahaha []
gus the bus Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Right Gents, sunstrips are all made just waiting on the etch effect stickers so, all going to plan these will be in the post on Friday night/saturday morning. Cheers Gus PS if anyone else now wants a sunstrip/etch effect stickers let me know as Steve will honour these prices until the end of the month.
scoobyiain Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Is it just sunstrips and etch stickers he does gus, been wanting something for the sides of my spoiler. let me know what else he can do
marky.t.s Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Iain ,youre a mind reader ,was sitting here thinking about SWRT swoosh logo in yellow for sides of rear spoiler, lol. cheers, Mark.
scoobyiain Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 That's exactly what i'm thinking about getting. Have been looking on ebay but nothing takes my fancy.
gus the bus Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Guys, If you want a pair of swooshes! In whatever colour I'm sure that can be arranged no problemo[Y]. I take it you would want one in reverse so that they "swoosh" back the way on both sides of your spoilers and c. 5-6"tall!!? If so I'll sort oot a price with Stevie when I pick up the etches. PS anything you want can be printed. Logo's, Robin graphics, Spike logos, Alpinestars logo, pig etc..... Let me know. Gus
scoobyiain Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 2 swooshes for me gus in yellow would be great thanx and yeah one would need to be reversed. Iain

col666 Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Be careful when fitting your sunstrip, make sure it doesnt come too far down your screen as it will fail an MOT like mine did until i ripped it off!
