marky.t.s Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Hi folks, just a wee techy question ,i'm sure somebody will have an answer.I was filling up washer bottle the other night while engine was running.I noticed a small spark arcing from distributor(just above front left plug lead)down onto one of the dist. retaining screws.Only noticed this coz it was dark, otherwise i wouldnt have known about it. Anything to worry about? cheers, Mark.
wrxmania Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Sounds like a lead or the distributor cap is on its' way out.
dave_morgan Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Sparks should never escape from within the distributor or leads, so as Brian says, it sounds like the insulation in one of them is breaking down. Perhaps a small crack in the cap ??
marky.t.s Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 cheers guys i'll get someone to check it out.
billyboy Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Marky, Get a new cap mate.Replace the rotor arm at the same time.
