John st1 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I am thinking of de catting my car.. I have got a uk 300 I know that it has got two cats but I can only see one sensor in the cat but I can not see if there is one in the downpipe.. Does any one know if there is one in the downpipe? And if I was to change both the cats is it going to be to loud?
insane clown Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 i wouldn't worry about the noise, it only increases a little but the other benifits are well worth it[] and from what i can remember you can leave the centre on and pass the mot still, i'm sure i'll be corrected otherwise,
John st1 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 I only worry about the noise as that we are thinking of starting a family and I dont want it to be to loud.. We do not have an mot over here so I would like to get them both off ...
Manx minx Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I wouldn't worry about the noise even if you start a family as kids that are brought up sleeping with noise can sleep through most noise anyway, I could have blown up the house when my daughter was a baby and she still wouldn't have woke up. RE the decat I know John was looking into this and he was told that one decat would be relatively easy but the one with the sensor would be more difficult however it can still be done. So good luck if you get it done and let us know how you get on with the decat if you get it done. Nix
Dave K Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 The noise will be reflected by the type of back box you have, some people have full decat's and they don’t sound much louder than standard. Does yours have a prodrive back box? From what I have found you have a 02 sensor in manifold, EGT probe in up pipe and an other 02 sensor after the 3rd cat. Cat in up pipe, down pipe & centre pipe. You will either need an ecutek remap to take full advantage of the decat and at the same time disable the CEL error or fit a CEL fix. Hope this helps.
John st1 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 Yes I do have a prodrive back box. All the parts that I have been looking at are all from scoobyworld and they are as follows Afterburner centre section £99.99 Afterburner cat pipe £105.00 Afterburner de-cat downpipe £205.00 Afterburner up pipe £ 135.00 The car at the mo is running at about 250bhp and I would like to get it to about 300bhp seeing as that what most people think the 300 means on my car. I know that just putting the exhaust part on will not get me there but it all helps..
andrew_field Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 It might also be worth looking at some ported and wrapped headers.
Dave K Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Hey Andy, how's it going? You still got the scoobysport backbox on the car? John I have a few bits which might interest you as I am going full 3” system with my new setup, give me a call if you want 498476. As Andy said ported headers will help, but don’t forget you will need to lag the downpipe as well to keep under bonnet heat down.
insane clown Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 babies love the burble, tests show it actualy sends them to sleep!......it's a soothing din. as mentioned i have full decat with tsl 4" b/box..........not a problem, very comfortable imho. i had H&S 4.5" jap style before and had to change it, you could hear it for 2 miles nearly when i went to work and the missus timed me up to where she couldn't hear it anymore, she can still hear me coming but doesn't sound like 50 harley davidsons coming this time[]
