kinghorn Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 MATE of mine is looking at a 02 bug eye, at a good price, but hates the headlights, he has been told he can change to the new style ones without to much hassle, is this true
paulc555 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I've got a bug eye mate.....you can change the lights okay with a few options available...depends what you mean by new style...if you mean of the latest cars then no....but for bugeyes the main options would be prodrive light pods like mine, if the car is a wrx you could change to sti lights, I;ve just sold a set of these and they are like hens teeth to find.....or another popular option are the morette headlight conversions, all depends on taste really......but either way to be honest its serious money to change from original wrx....second hand from £250 upwards or new prodrive lights are about £550 if I remember rightly.... if you need any pics just let me know.. Paul
kinghorn Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 hmmm he is positive you can change them to the 03> spec of headlight pics would be great
G.Mac Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I think if you were to do this you would nee bonnet, wings, fromt bumper and grill, so basically another front end Graeme
imprezapete Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Correct, you would have to replace front end and some of the front sub assembly. I have looked at the option and its not cheap to say the least. your boarding on selling the car and buying an 03 plate. Only reason I could see to doing it is if you get all the components dirt cheap. but you got respray costs on top and there is a good chance you would need to respray the rest of the car.
WHITEUK Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Whats wrong with bugeyes[] There really isn't much difference in cost between 02 bug's and 03 blobs. Ive also seen some sort of conversion on the web somewhere and it is far too expensive compared to the difference in price when buying a car ,the car will still be of bug age so will not be worth any more. J
paulc555 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 as promised here are the prodrive ones on my bugeye.... cheers
kinghorn Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 just found out it was that conversion he was meaning not the new blob eye one, lol cheers for the help and pics tho
