baser999 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I'm getting this annoying little rattle from , it seems, the rear offside when the cars moving - its not there when the cars stationary or the engines off. Its as if a small chain is dangling somewhere. Had a look round and theres nothing obviously loose or caught up underneath. Any ideas ? Perhaps someone could sit in and we run it round the block on Friday night at the Wharf - or someone could run alongside listening lol
granby Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I'm not doing anymore running [:|] so don't bother asking []
yogibear Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Are you sure there isn't anyone hiding in there somewhere from the France trip []
baser999 Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 Now thats one possibility I hadn't thought of........now, anyone got any sensible ideas please
mick_weatherill Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Could be the NUT Behind the wheel !![]
Montythegod Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 pmsl.... does it happen when you go over a bump ? do you have coilovers ? Have you tried jacking up the rear of the car an seeing if there is any play in the rear wheels, wobbling top and bottom of rear wheel (whilst trying to hold the sjock) would identify it... Also worth wobbling the exhaust around to see if its knocking ... I had an anoying rattle and it turned out to be the shock insert on my coilover, I took it apart and re shimmed it and problem solved.... ( this could happen on standard shocks, but then you will need to replace it)
baser999 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 No noticeable play in the wheels or exhaust - as I say it sounds very much as if a very small chain has been attached to the car - its not a 'heavy-duty' sort of noise which is what makes it that much more annoying
