shiralee Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Please can someone help me!! I have had constant shaking while breaking!! [:@]At first it came through the steering wheel thus indicating I needed new front discs and pads..ALL DONE.[] Then it came through the pedals so last week had brand new discs and pads put on the back!![:|] But to my amazement and lots of swearing!!! It now seems to be vibrating though both!!![:@][:@] There does seem to be some noise from the front which happens on each rotation of the wheel..rather like a slight "click"??? Possible suggestions so far have been 1) Wheel bearings 2) Steering arm Any more thoughts?? Its driving me mad!!!!
SCOOBYTOO Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 sounds like possible. CV joint if it clicks from the wheel area . it will be more prominent whilst driving and turing steering onto full lock..... or possible driveshaft/propshaft vibration, due to faulty bearing.
shiralee Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 Well the car is booked in Friday as the rubber bit on the rear nearside CV joint is torn so has to be re-placed..would this cause the vibration??
mick_weatherill Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Hi ya shiralee ..Yeah if that gaitor has been split for a while the cv joint could be dry (knackerd ) thus poss causing the vibrations. But could be a number of things like Tyres and wheels ,c.v joint, bull joint, drive shaft, etc good luck let us know what they find on friday .[Y]
shiralee Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 [Y][Y] Will do, thanks!! Tyres good although cos lowered nearside rear is worn on one side..something to do with camber! Wheels came off another classic..standard just painted... dont like the sound of the drive shaft bit tho!!![] Hey ho..find out once the gaitor is replaced I guess.. process of elimination!![]
SCOOBYTOO Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 the split gaitor would explain the clicking then where the joint has dried out the ball bearings in the cv joint are rolling around in the casing. probably a new cv joint and gaitor then
luke_clifton Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Had the same problem, turned out to be the drivershaft was knackered on the front driverside wheel. got a whole drive shaft (and some other bits attached) for £25 from Essex subaru breakers, although this was for a sport scooby. Good luck, hope you get it fixed soon
mick_weatherill Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 So what did they find with the car Shiralee??

Deano 666 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 IM STICKING WITH WHEEL BEARING, OR POSSIBLEY LOWER WISH BONE BALL JOINT. []
STiBen Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 might be a loose front disc? had a 16v clio and had the same problem. was a loose disc. ???
leon Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 dont think its a loose front disc! it would mean that the wheel was not put on correctly, have your wheels been balanced properly?
STiBen Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 but the result of a loose disc is that the wheel becomes loose as well which would explain the vibration?
Deano 666 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 dont think its a loose front disc! it would mean that the wheel was not put on correctly, have your wheels been balanced properly? I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING, IF THE DISC IS LOOSE ,THAN SO WOULD THE WHEEL.BE LOOSE AND IF THE WHEEL IS LOOSE THEN IT WOULD OF FELL OFF BY NOW[Y]
Deano 666 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 IM STICKING WITH WHEEL BEARING, OR POSSIBLEY LOWER WISH BONE BALL JOINT. [] OR LOWER WISH BONE MOUNTING BOLTS MY BE LOOSE[8-|]
