scoobyjim Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Ive had my 99 classic since july and im already bored with the performance. when i bought the car it already had a jr panel filter, a scoobysport decat downpipe and backbox, leda coilovers and hi spec 4 pot big brake conversion and just after i got it i replaced the centre cat with a magnex decat so its now fully decatted. dont get me wrong it goes well and stops well and also handles well but it just isnt fast enough anymore, ive got used to it. so, what should i be looking at doing next and how much of a difference is it going to make to the car and what will it cost me?? it could really do with more torque in higher gears imo when ur just driving along in 3rd or 4th at 30mph it feels a bit lacklustre. so what should i do??
cullenmin Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Im feelin the same about mine, although brake upgrade and suspension bits are probably on the long long list first []
frank c Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Got to be a Remap for me Jim.The mid-range power/torque is much much more responsive... I'm in Musselburgh, so if you would like to see the difference just give me a shout. Check Andy Forrest's website for more info. I think it used to cost around £500+vat -ish Frank.
jcscoob Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Get a fuel pump and pressure reg, get booked in to Andys and get the boost cranked right up in a safe manor, conducted by the man himself [] Pump = £100 (ish) Reg = £100 (ish) Master map = £600 (ish) ---------------------- Total = £ 800 (ish) Then you will never look back [] http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/16280/index.html
frank c Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 What's the need for a Fuel pump and Regulator at this level Jon ? Frank

wrxmania Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Advanced driver training - must be the best thing to spend money on. I hope to do some when I can find a good course/money etc.
boris b Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Spot on with the course...Power is nothing without control...Oh i sound like an advert...LOL
Gumball Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Just as John mentioned above- fuel pump Fuel regulator remap fuel pump will fire more into the system with the regulator controlling the amount you want pressure wise working nicely with the newly mapped ecu by andy forrest The difference will be like having a new car with much more and better balanced power also being SAFER which souldnt be overlooked. After that? 18g turbo or similar bigger injectors and once of the hyperflow topmounts
dipsy Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 When i owned a my00 uk turbo. It had a full hayward and scott decat system ,jr panel filter tek3 remap by Andy f and the tdo4 would hit 21psi when the exhaust gas temp was 800deg from second gear onwards .Before it reached that temp it would go up to 16.5psi .Still the standard fuel pump and regulator.Never had it on the rollers .So don't now what power it had
