scooby princess Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Hi People,with all of the problems we have had on the forum, the committee, feel it is nessesary to seek out a more reliable source of hosting. At present we pay £100 a year, which is cheap. we are looking at going to a dedicated server, which will mean we should not experience any down time, and we should always be fast. We will also not have any problems with the sites i.p address being blocked, because of other members on the shared server sending out spam. what good is a forum that no-one can get on. This means we have to find money to cover the costs. We have therefor decided to follow the suit of other sites and Impliment a Membership charge. their will be a two teir membership system. 1. SWS Member. This will give you access to the events, Classifieds, forums. You will also be able to post in the Members Gallery. You will recieve a SWS web url sticker for you car. This will cost £10 per year. 2. SWS Advanced Member. Access All Area's of SWS . (Subject to Age Restrictions)Access to workshop data manuals. Discount at various Outlets. P.M facility increased to 500 storable messages. (5 For Non Members 50 for SWS Std Member.) Message tracking Deny receipt of P.M SWS Image Hosting Facility. (No upload for Non Members or STD Members) Buyer / Seller assistance. Membership Card.SWS Shark Fin Metal Keyring SWS Web Url Sticker For your Car. The Cost of Advanced Membership will be £25 per year. A second Family Member can recieve the Advanced Membership, for £10 without the SWS Shark Fin Keyring. rae_sti Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 why would people pay twice for benefits when sidc give members benefits , i understand you need to raise money for the server, but £25 your having a laugh sidc is £35 and well worth it with the discounts at various places / insurance ,what discounts could sws offer that sidc doesnt , £10 is more like it ,for whats lets face it is not the most friendly scoob forum . just my opinion for what its worth as a ex sws member .

I pay SIDCmy £35 not for the services they can give me but to help the forum keepgoing.Same with Scoobyzone £35 to help keep them on line…I could go on…Guessit depends on how much enjoyment you get from the scoob and the forumsyou use.
