GaryD Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Im about to tackle changing over the standard double din headunit in my Sti7 to a single din Alpine CDA9813 that Ive had lying about for a while. Got the forester dash pocket. Got the autoleads adapter. All I need to do now is wire it up, if only it was that easy!!! The problem is that my alpine wiring loom which connects from the headunit to autoleads adapter has the ISO block missing for the power (still got the speakers ISO block wired into the loom). I intent to just crimp the wires together instead of trying to replace the ISO block thats missing. I've managed to match up 4 of the 5 colours. The only one that I have left to deal with is the yellow. On the autoleads adapter the yellow says "Memory" but according to my alpine stereo the yellow needs to be connected directly to to the battery. Does this mean that I need to run a seperate wire from the yellow on the headunit loom to the battery? Or can the yellow "memory" wire in the autoleads adapter be crimped to this? If I need to run a seperate wire to the battery, what happens to the yellow "memory" wire? Cheers.
st3ph3n Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Yellow is permanent 12v supply. Wire it to the yellow on the adaptor. That is required for keeping your radio presets etc. The yellow on my pioneer has a wee box inline with it, like a fuse perhaps. Also when wiring up my defis I didn't do it right the first time and the problem was I hadn't wired it in to the permanent 12v supply, which was the yellow one on the adaptor. So go for it.
irish al Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 No you dont need to run a seperate wire to the battery, just connect the yellow on your alpine loom to the yellow on the autoleads adaptor. The yellow is always +12v even when the car is turned off. If you need any help and your near glenrothes pm me your number Al
GaryD Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Cheers Stephen, was hoping that was gona be the answer, just didnt want to risk damaging the car or the stereo, the missus would have killed me! The yellow wire on the alpine is the same, it has a fused block inline on it. I had read a install guide for a similar model apline unit over on the "other" forum and on that they had ran a seperate feed from the battery for the yellow. Thats why I was unsure. Cheers again, scottish sidc forum is definately helping with all my queries so far! []
