ally-b Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I've been looking to buy a motorcycle again as I now have somewhere to keep one - I had to give them up when I moved to my flat . My question is : a couple of bikes I've seen have had no tax as they have been stored for a couple of years . How does it work with SORN ? is it just a case of getting new tax at the P.O. once the reg doc (V5) is changed to my name ? or is it more complicated ? What if SORN was not done when the tax last ran out ? [*-)]Al.
wrxmania Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Get it MOT'd and taxed, transferred to you and declared back on the road - I think that's it.
Dougie C Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 ally-b This webpage may help you out hopefully. http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ also found the following: I am buying a vehicle and the previous keeper has already declared SORN. Do I have to do anything? Yes. As the new keeper you are required to do one of two things: · Apply for a tax disc Or · Declare SORN from the date of acquisition, as SORN is not transferable. Dougie
z1000 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 If you have the log book you can declare it sorn online so saving standing in a queue of old folk smelling of pee at the post office.
