johns Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Stephen, under our current cover, we get two free track events which covered us for the Kames event (RB Relay) and Alford. We can pay more for additional events, which may not be that much (probably a few hundred pounds in total) if split amongst everyone taking part. However, there are minimum safety standards that need to be met regarding marshalling, medics on site, public safety measures etc, and the costs of these may well prove prohibitive. We're OK for Kames and Alford, as these events are run to a standard format so that all the requirements are met. The cost of our annual policy is close to £3k for mostly show & shine type events. Given the nature of this event (and recent publicity regarding high speeds and airfields), the insurers would likely load the premiums quite highly. If the VMAX people can arrange something, then that might be the easiest way forward if we can work with them to arrange a venue etc. RAF airfields may not require PLI cover if it is run as a closed event and not open to the public, and being conducted on private grounds. thefastone Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Well the events so far announced at RAF Lossiemouth, have had a small charge of somthing like £20-30 TOPS to cover the costs of insurance and ambulance cover etc... I belive the clubs organising the events also must have simelar cover to run these events.... To be fair I dont think that anyone wanting to take part in events like this would have any objections on coughing up a modest fee, to cover costs, and the rest to Santa Cruise.... [] Edit: oh and yeah It requires marshalls too.... they were asking for marshalls in the announcment e-mails too....
RA Dunk Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 marshalls wouldent be a problem everybody could take a turn at it, as for payment im sure we could all add something towards it as after all it will be our day with our cars etc, what about inviting some other clubs etc to help with the payment if its going to cost an arm and a leg? maybe we could get andy.f there as well as a type of advert and let him get as much runs in as he wants without queing up, he might even break a record or two with all the runs he can manage []
