Bob Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 At least you manage to geton....more than I can do....Talking of viruses. I know blueyonder block viruses wonder if its blueyonder blocking the site? Only as a guest Bob [] Tried getting on as a guest but no luck.....I try to ping SWS but just get timed out on all 4 packets. If I cannot ping um what chance do I have getting the site up....
denise_gillam Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Well my ex husband's an IT Manager, and he says your SWS site must have a virus, and he told me off for going onto it at his house LOL []
scooby princess Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 I found that its much simpilar to use the basic un evolved skin for the site and it is speedier then with the other skins. I have copied over the main meets etc onto this forum to keep everyone who is unable to get on the sws site informed on the meets etc that are coming up through this forum and you are able to come straight into this forum by doing www.southwestscoobies.com
Guest The M@trix Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 The server has anti-virus on it, i have gone in and checked and their are No Viruses. However, i was getting all of the emails sent to 1 specific user who is with Titan, returned, when the user enquired with Titan, we were told that the server's I.P address was being blocked because the server was sending out Spam. This is the only problem when on a Shared server, you have no controll over the other people on the server. Their is a list, of servers that are known to send out spam. this list is used by Internet service providers, Anti-virus and spyware programs to block that server to prevent you being spammed. We believe that the problems people are having getting onto the site is down to the server being blocked. Hence why we are looking to move to another server. Jacqui, in what way are the other style sheets easier? you asked me before is their was a way to disable the water effect. this has been done in the Evolved style sheets, and most features have been disabled. on the evolved style sheets. they do not have any extra queries that the std style sheets dont have. with the exception of the style sheets that say No features. as every extra has been removed. Derek
denise_gillam Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Well it comes up with a virus thing on my ex's PC and also on mine. I know nothing about servers and IP addresses, but thought my info may have helped you find out whats wrong. Good luck, D
neil_gibson Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Really, really slow these days.....too slow to even use properly hence me not logging on often
rae_sti Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 i got it [] everyone become guests and that way you can all get on [] i thought this forum was the official sws forum anyway but most of the time its like a ghost town and people only logging on when the other site was down . hence the increase in posts on here . and from what i can see there isnt to much going on there anyway ..

Bob Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Well it comes up with a virus thing on my ex's PC and also on mine. I know nothing about servers and IP addresses, but thought my info may have helped you find out whats wrong. Good luck, D Think you have helped ...As I have removed router norton and firewall I would think the site is being blocked from blueyonder or before blueyonder. Anything with a virus or mention of virus will most prob be blocked from blueyonder.
scooby princess Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 guess what....................... down again! and up again! glitch in the system?
Bob Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 guess what....................... down again! and up again! glitch in the system? Big glitch for me....[]
Guest The M@trix Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 H-U have redirected me to a post on their forums and it seems that this is happening on all of their serrvers. they insist 100% their are No Viruses. http://www.hu-forums.com/showpost.php?p=25...mp;postcount=29 if anyone cares to view the entire thread pleas do, but it shows, that the errors sws have are not isolated to us, they are aparent an various servers throughout the Host. they are working on the issue. and are prepared to move us to the new server chain. today.
denise_gillam Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 If it helps derek, the box that comes up on my PC and my ex's, says its a Trojan Virus, thats on your site. I dont get this message on any other forum I go on. probably no help at all LOL
Guest The M@trix Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks, the hosts have finaly admited, it is a server issue. I believe it is a Virus and so does other users from reading threads on the hosts forums. but they deny it, but it has been confirmed that the problem does not occur on the new server network they have. We should be moved to the new server today. (I hope) and this should resolve this issue. we will have a new server i.p address and should allow people who have been blocked by spyware to access the site too.
Guest The M@trix Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 SWS Is Currently Down, i can confirm this is part of the Migration the the new network within our Current hosts. This is out of our controll and should be back soon, and i am told it should also be without all the errors. Derek
scooby princess Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 SWS is fully functional and up and running [][Y]

scooby princess Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 Lets hope that will be the end of it
phil Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Good to hear Derek, I had progressed your request and our ISP was doing some loading tests.I will carry on with these just in case
Guest The M@trix Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Hi Phil, I think it would be best if we were on a server with less people tbh. as i do not think it will be long before other people on the same server, start spamming and getting the server added to another black list. We have had some quotes for dedicated hosting, I am also looking at hosting my own server, but i think it will be more expensive due the the high speed ISDN line i would need installed. we will not look at making any decision untill you get back to us. Derek
denise_gillam Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Just went on your site Derek, and virus thing came up again.
Guest The M@trix Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 please can you delete your cookies, then go back and hold the shift key and press F5 or refresh at the same time. this way it confirms you are not getting the virus notice from history. The hosts assure us its Fixed. if not i will get back to them.
