steve_nairn_sti Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 How do you think the cost of running a Scooby compares to the cost of running motors classed more as "sports cars"? Yes, I know a Scooby could take the a*se off of most of these but for the purposes of this thread, I don't consider the Scooby as a sports car. I'm talking more about the likes of a.....TVR Cerbera or a Porker 911. Just curious as initially I thought there would be a HUGE gap but now I'm not so sure.[:^)]
RS Grant Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I would expect an increase in Insurance and an even bigger jump in Servicing/Parts costs on some of the 'supercars' over an Impreza. MPG, might be similar though.. the Boxer isnt known for its economy.. My old MY98 was running un-mapped 440 injectors and averaged 11mpg during one tank of fuel, thats less than pretty much any car on the road..... [] Saying that, even a well mapped standard-ish car will only be averaging 20-25mpg realistically and IMO thats still pretty poor mpg. Cheers, Grant
scooby222 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 depends on what you look at steve, the sort of cars you mention have horrendous servicing costs and parts compared to the impreza, hard to believe though that is! at least with the scoob if you dont run it you dont spend on the fuel, servicing is on time intervals and has to be done even if its only done 100 miles. its one of the main reasons i wwent for the sti rather than an evo. also with tvr youve got to factor in the breakdown costs-if you meet someone with one thats never given them trouble they probably bought it from a talking dog too! but if you include s2000s or 3.0 z4s etc then they wont be too different is this at all related to the link about selling your car? it isnt fooling me, ive put two and two together- you with the chance of 'something special' and Dale saying he wont have his car for much longer- youve bought the shed! []
scooby222 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 not sure stevel be able to cope with the step up in power! [] you ready to disclose your new motor yet Dale?
thefastone Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 perhaps tomorrow......? Saturday at the outside.... All will be revealed...
