andrew_lally Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Need some advice from them in the know!!! Whats the best gearbox oil i can use for my old 95 wrx import?? im using Motul 75 90 fully synthetic.....but cant keep the old beast going in boxes!!! is there a better oil or am i just clutching at straws again lol lol someone must be having similiar problems!!! help regards andy
rossyboy1 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I think you'll find you have too much power for the box rather than using the wrong oil [] An Sti 4/5/6 box, or if you're feeling flush (£1,500+) a later 6 speed will sort it. I'm just counting the days until my old box gives up and I'll be in the same position []
johnnyr6 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I use millers crx 75w/90bm, it seems to come highly recommended (£11 a ltr). I know a shop that has some sitting on their shelf if interested. My car only has 300 brake so i'm not putting the box under too much stress.
rossyboy1 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Its torque that kills gearboxes. Early ones cant take 300 ft/lb+ for any great length of time, though driver input has a lot to do with it []
scoobyfuzzy Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 thread hijack, sorry andy, but talking about gearboxes n stuff, iv noticed recently that when drop from 5th gear to 4th gear i get a judder from the back of the car, any comments on the problem guys? fuzzy
