Guest Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 hi folks, our classic wrx is having a wee problem, tried to resolve before. well driving normally it will hold 0.9 bar boost in all gears BUT when you nail the car it goes to 0.9 bar --- then has a big backfire, seens as though the anchors go on, boost drops to 0.6 bar. the coil packs, plugs, oil levels are okay, car running on shell V. does anyone - grant, et all have a clue why its doing it .......... a bit hacked off. thanks
scoobaroo Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Have you checked all the hoses ?? could be drawing air , just a suggestion m8 .
johnnyr6 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 After the backfire and drop to 0.6 bar does it go back up to 0.9? How is the MAF?
the squiggle Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 As said before check the hoses between the turbo and manifold as well MAF is also a suspect, so give it a clean with Brake Cleaner Check the pipes around the boost solenoid
Guest Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 hi folks, thanks for the replies, net access is limited at the min. J6R - the boost does return to 0.9 bar. When i first got the car - 2 years ago it had a new maf (courtisy of the squirrel) - and even at that point it was doing the same, thats when the coil packs were changed. at that time it has an hks induction kit on it. i sold the catr to pedals who swithched the induction kit to a std filter. since getting the car back it still had the 'backfire' problem. i will check all connections etc when i get a chance, if all ok what else could it be? thanks again folks.
Guest Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 looks like it could be similar to what pedals found on the car, one hose loose, will check it out. keep you posted.
Guest Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 well all pipes are on okay, maf looks ok ..... so where now. is it a new fuel pump? or is it a case on not nailing it and puting the power in smooth, until i can get plan b done (apexi)
