John st1 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I have just gone out in the car for the first time at night, When I put the lights on they did not seem to light up the road ahead. When I looked at the adjuster it was on 0. I put it on to 3 then back to 0 to see if it was stuck. but it did not seem to do anything. So I went to put the spot lights on and they would not work unless I put the main beem on. Can you not put the spots on with just the dip head lights on?
heazille Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Not sure ,but i doubt it I think only fog light will come on on dip beam, unless you wire them in seperatley that is Ta Ta Richard
John st1 Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 I dont want to but i think that I will have to send it to barry and the monkey crew. Its just that I have to put the car in for its manx test on the 12th this month. The last thing i want is for them to fail it just over the lights. But apartfrom the lights the car is going so well the buy that i have ever made
heazille Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 As long as they work, thats all that the test centre will worry about. Your biggest problem up there is making sure they do the brake test on the open road as they only have a two wheel drive roller set up and four wheel drive dont like being jacked up as wrecks diffs!! Ta Ta Richard ps can you 'e' mail me on prouse@manx.net so i can add you to my Manx SIDC Mailing list for future events etc etc
graeme_stuart Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Hi John. My 2002 Sti was like that. It is just the shape of the lights i think. It was ok with full beam on, but you cant realy drive about with them on all the time.[^o)]

Can you not put the spots on with just the dip head lights on My spots come on with both dips and head lights. Regarding the test I had a car fail because one of the headlights was misaligned so I would make sure that you check for that as well though I am sure it is a rare thing. Good luck with the test anyway. Nix[]
John st1 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Well what can I say i have been in no mans land today, yes that's right I have been looking in the engine bay. Right aout the lights I think that i know what is up with them now. When I swich them on I can hear the moter that let you ajust them, the thingis it will not stop so the light keeps going up and down. So I think that I will have to bite my tounge and send it to Barry to get it sorted out before the test. I am just glad that I got one with a Warrenty.
John st1 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Update on the lights : The circuit board had burnt out so Barry and his monkeys are going to put a new set of headlights in for us!
graeme_stuart Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 [][], Sorry to hear about that John. []. Don't lose your faith in the scoob though. Its Just one of those things. And a at least you don't have to pay.[]
John st1 Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 I will not lose my faith in the scoob, I just hope that they get me the same one's that are on the car at the mo.
bopalula Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Steering the thread off in a slightly different direction .... Who is this Barry and his "monkeys"? I'm presuming he's the owner of a garage that's the best place to be taking our P&Js when they need some TLC?
graeme_stuart Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I wouldn't say best place, but it is our local scoob dealer for waranty work. And they only seem to be bothererd with uk spec cars.
bopalula Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Ahh right. Usual deal then, dealers won't touch imports. Where's the best place then?
graeme_stuart Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 There is a place in Douglas that some of the boys and girls take them to, called westcoast performance (i think this is the correct name). Dave K will know more about him i think.[].
John st1 Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Steering the thread off in a slightly different direction .... Who is this Barry and his "monkeys"? I know that I should not call them that But when I took my car in to Barry Curran to have the new brakes put on and just to make sure that the car was okay for it test. I see it being driven up the mountain and back again. When I ask them what they were doing in my car, they said that they were just bedding the new brakes in. Two days later I went to take the car out for a bit the first thing that I looked for was the new brakes. But was there any? no! When we came back I ask about this and Barry said that he would look in to it to see if they had been done. But yet it was him that tok the car out and said to me that it had them put on.. At the end of the day they took my car out with out asking me if it was okay to.

Southcoast performance, we have been to him a few times he does work with a lot of scooobs and is supposed to be getting a rolling road in soon, though we have been waiting patiently now for a wee while. I'd say that they need a letter of complaint & also a letter fired off to Subaru. I'm still in the process of moving to the island, so I've not yet used Curran's, but your experience has made me very concerned about them. Maybe it would be better to travel across for servicing work?
Dave K Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Hi John, nice to meet you and Donna at the show yesterday.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> That's not on taking you car out, been there myself Went to ATS for wheel alignment when I first got the car, trusted them to leave it there, on return 5 miles on the clock when confronted had to test the alignment mate, not over 5 miles you don’t. Asked him if he had a good jolly and got a rather blank but embarrassed expression, so only company I trust now is South Coast Performance as Nix/John use amongst others on here for the same reason. I would ask for the cost of the pads to be taken off the service, due to lying about it and having a jolly in your car. Disgusting behaviour and one way of not getting custom from anyone on here.[:@]
