david_taylor Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I have been getting some vibration through the steering wheel, particularly noticable at high speed. My 1st though is wheels need re-balanced, but they are only 1 month old, unless one has thrown a weight 2nd though is perhaps the ball joint is going. Anyone, mechanically minded, got any ideas or had similar faults? Its a MY00 Classic Turbo. Cheers
ANDYJDMSTI Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 get them rebalanced.......like you say probably threw a weight. once you have taken that out the equation and if it is still the same then you can start digging deeper.
vicki Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I had this vibration at motorway speeds too [] Got my wheels balanced and it stopped. Even although they are only 1 month old they could still need balanced []
z1000 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 As above had mine done last week and its amazing what a tiny weight can do.
Fly Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 and if that fails u pobably have a warped disk buddy
david_taylor Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Discs should be ok...they are only 6 months old...will try the wheel balace first.
thefastone Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Shouldn't have thought that the Disc could do that.... not unless its really buggurd... [:|] Wheel balance is where my moneys at... It might even be, that the tyre has worn funny, or that it might not have been balanced properly in the first place... ooooorrrrrrrr that it might have just lost a weight....
david_taylor Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Just back from the Tyre shop and it turns out both wheels needed re balanced. They had hammered the old weights in, which I have had problems with in the past with the wheel throwing them, so I insisted on stick on ones. Seems A ok now. Thanks for the comments all. Dave[]
