Oooh me pipes!

Can I as a'driveway mechanic' fit/change my downpipe myself? I have a jack, axlestands only.

Obviously removing the cats (for off road use only obviously!) is going to light up my dashboard- how can i get round that? Can i get away with doing this without a remap for 2 or so months?

Is the up-pipe worth changing?

How much noisier would 3" decat be compared to my 2.5"?

Ta in advance

Depends on your skill with a spanner !!!!  When mine was done the

bolts had seized so need air tools to remove it but as long as there

are no troubles you could just about do it [Y]

Up pipe is defo worth changing but you will need a remmap after because

it changes the way the turbo spools up and you need to adjust the

fuelling to compensate for this.  Will also mean your turbo will

spool up that little bit quicker too

Not too much louder either [:D]

Definitely change the up-pipe as it has a pre cat in it and if that starts to break up for any reason it goes straight into the turbo [:D], it's also worth wrapping the up-pipe & down-pipe and the headers if possible.

You can change them yourself but the up-pipe is a pig as you have to jack up the engine a little, as Tony said down-pipe can be done but 9 times out of 10 one or more of the studs will be stuck or difficult to remove (Xtreme had a problem with a stud on mine even though it was only 6 months old [:D])

Don't think a 3" decat would be a lot more noisier than a 2.5" [:^)]

De-catting will bring the CEL light on but you can get a CEL fix kit for that (Xtreme do them)

i did my downpipe by myself and i recommend you either get a person to help you or get a proper mechanic to do it because its is a rite pain in the arse! took me 6 hours to change the downpipe, but it was in the wet in 3 inchs of rain water and it was dark and i was by myself! if i had more money i would get somone else to do it!

good luck mate! its worth it in the end!
