can anyone help me i got my car at the end of june, now i have had it checked with the chassis number at subaru and its a uk 2000 turbo . can anyone tell me if it was a wrx /sti would it say that on the log book as mine says its a subaru impreza awd . the reason iam asking is cause the garage sold it to me as an sti i have the ad for the car so i was going to go to the trading standards about it

If it a WRX/STi it should say so on the V5 plus details on when the car was imported etc. My V5 clearly say Model/Type IMPREZA TURBO 2000 AWD. If I was you I'd get on to the garage.

I would deffo persue it mate, u might not get all ur money back, but u should at least get the difference between the value of a wrx and sti ...

Don't worry too much about the logbook, many imports were wrongly named when arriving over here. It's prob because the dvla mark it as the closest match to a uk car they have on their register.

Firstly find out if it is defo an sti, if not then i would speak to the garage. If it is an sti let the dvla know and they'll rectify the mistake.

My 1995 sti2 was down as a 22b uk model in white?? when i first got it.

A couple of tell tale signs it's an sti are, sti logos on seats, red inlet manifold, sti badges everywhere, intercooler waterspray and no abs and a cheap aftermarket foglight under or on the rear bumper.

Engine and chassis codes are the definitave answer but the above are a start.
