scoobyjim Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 mica blue 99 t plate, one owner, full ssh, scoobysport downpipe and back box, leda coilovers, 17" subaru rims plus mint standard 16", 45000mls, mint condition, im very happy!! was wondering is it worth changing the middle exhaust section with a de cat pipe to get rid of the one remaining cat? also apparently the engine warning light came on when the owner was driving to meet me and its never happened before, it didnt come on when i drove it. he is taking it to subaru to check the diagnostic to see what it was, hes just put a new maf sensor on could that be the cause?? the deal is done subject to the all clear from subaru re the warning light, any ideas?
craigwrx Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Could be a few things, of course u will want it sorted before u buy, but i wouldn't worry about ...nothing that cant be fixed .. Sounds like a nice car ...good luck [Y]

bigdavie Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 nice !!!! say goodbye to financial solvency now !!
colin_ross Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 The 99/00's have a known weakness when it comes to blowing mafs, my record for gubbing one is 2000 miles. It can be made much worse if you use certain aftermarket air filters or induction kits so beware. Personally I'd recommenf fitting a knocklink or similar especially if you intend to tune the car as it could save your engine if it goes again. The warning light may be the lamda sensor as when a maf goes it can fry the lamda in no time. Should be easily diagnosed and replaced by a dealer.
scoobyjim Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 the guy said it was changed last week, i thought it may be the lamda sensor as well, its got a jr filter in the airbox. hes taking it to subaru today so we shall see what the outcome is.
