rabskyline Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 i think the squirrel told me it was a td05 on these early 94 type ra cars so whats the safe boost levels it can run ?
the squiggle Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Std boost is 0.9 bar The ECU will fuel cut at a touch over 1.1bar So i would aim for std boost at the moment until you find out what ECU she has.
rabskyline Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 the ecu is std (from what i have seen ) as its the same type as a friends but a different code but it has a hks fcd fitted. j8 (japan industries label on it )is on it i think. the panel was loose so i think the fancy gear has been removed before export. may go down the apexi road soon anyway.
johnnyr6 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 With a standard ecu set it to just under 1.1 bar peak but if you up the boost you'll need an AFR gauge to make sure it's not running lean ( more boost needs more fuel). Typical eh?? you change one thing then have to do another to make sure it's ok. I've put an uprated chip in my ecu and now my car fuel cuts all the time as boost hits 1.2 bar peak..... But i don't care....[]
iain_ogston Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 My 95 RA TD05 runs 1.5 bar sustained no problem. However, anything above standard boost needs air and fuelling mods. If you don't fit the likes of Apexi PFC, AVCr, fuel pump, injectors and fuel pressure stabiliser and get a remap before running bigger boost it's likely to lean out or knock. When you've got those items, TD05 turbo whine is nice Once I get my front mount intercooler I will be looking for a new turbo, probably something based on a modified TD05 like the AFP5-20.
rabskyline Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 n email from andy forrest ! this morning ! he said my car fitted with the apexi power fc and an uprated fuel pump will make 360-370 bhp ! holy shiit !!!! i need to think about this now !! who can i mug ![6]
