rabskyline Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 when i got the car i hadnt driven it much and then decided to fit this new vta bov. so when i was poking around under the dash like a plum i connected the two green plugs that were loose as i thought they were for my spot lamps[:$] i had probs with the new bov and have since found out that these two plugs are for resetting the ecu along with the black ones (which were already joined ?). anyway upon reading ecu resetting by andy 22b, i can see that i have been touching stuff i shouldnt have done. it says that it may take 30-100 miles for the car's ecu to learn again ! what a faaaanny !! i need shot ! you would think by having other jap performance cars that i would bloody learn/know something by now ! maybe i should just shut up for once and listen ! anyone want to give me a dry slap ??
st3ph3n Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 rab, consider yourself slapped. Now take the car to somewhere that knows what they're doing and get it checked out before you blow the shit out of it. It's all great fun until it detonates its head off.
bigdavie Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 sorry am i missing something ?? i thought you had an aftermarket ecu rab ??!! would the check still work ??
AlanG Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 It'll default to the original settings Rab, which depending on what it's history with fuel is like, may actually increase timing over what it was before you reset it. i.e. if it had been detecting det it would have retarded the timing to ensure engine safety. Wouldn't worry about it.
oz *sti* Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 well at least you can learn from these little errors Rab []
rabskyline Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 i dont think it is an aftermarket ecu but it has some writing on it but as ive been a bit of a tit recently, i'll reserve judgement on whats what until la skweerel has had a look at this thingy ! whatever it is !
bigdavie Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 lol im probably tripping !! thought it was an aftermarket one cos it wasnt where it was meant to be !!?? i'll go back in my corner now !!
rabskyline Posted July 26, 2006 Author Posted July 26, 2006 yip i was being a tit then too, i thought it was meant to be inside the drivers floor well against the fusebox area. someone suggested it might be an aftermarket one as they hide them under the seat for easy pc connection etc. i dont know what the feck this cars got and i am just waiting now till someone with a brain can check it over ! feel free anyone to come down to my house and have a gander and a beer/cup of tea etc . i am now going to stick to my usual job of selling usual day to day cars and leave this stuff to the brainy folk ! offers to help are invited ![<)]
