irish al Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Got a bit of a problem with my 2003 WRX. At random the car limits itself to 0.5 bar of bost. Usually happens when the car is warm and I have been idleing for a long time then take off at warp speed []. Never seems to be a problem if I havent been sitting arround idleing. To cure it I either have to drive off boost for about 5 minutes or pull over and switch the car off and on a few times. Does this happen to anyone else or can anyone enlighten me as to what the problem is. Al
jamie_wood Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 0.5 bar is limp mode. Sounds like the ECU is shuting her down to the safe limit for some reason. Worth a call to AWD or the likes.
irish al Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Its already been in and no visual faults, no ecu faults, nothing. Its so randonm and only happens every couple of weeks that I cant make it happen when its in the garage. When it does happen, by the time i would get to the garage it would of reset its self. Al
WUZ Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 ECU retarding the ingition..........................due to the fact that there is detonation in the engine.................................becuse the TMIC is heatsoaked....................................due to sitting idling for ages......................still detting...........goes into Limp Mode (BCS closes fully, all boost pressure goes to actuator which opens @ 0.5 bar)? Possible! Russell ps - will get some info drawn together ref your PM and reply ASAP, but for now....I'm back to work!
