bigdavie Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 am i right in thinking that they are too old to have been encap tested ?? also how much safer would it make the car if i where to install a bolt in roll cage ?? tryin to justify keeping the scoob ! cheers davie
wilky Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 They are safe as you will ever need. Look at thier crash tests on the internet.
bigdavie Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 wilky mate been looking but cant find anything relevant to my car can you point me in the right direction please ??
colin_ross Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I think you're coming at this from the wrong angle Davie. The classic shell is on a par with other cars from that era but things have moved on, a modern supermini would probably offer you more or the same protection. What you need to consider is how likely you are to have a crash in one. With full time awd, lots of grip, decent brakes and the power to overtake safely I would argue that you are less likely to have a crash in the first place.
col666 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Ask JC Scoob, himself and his family had a pretty big off earlier this year and his wagon stood up pretty well considering. A fellow sidc member didnt have as much luck a few years ago with a side impact crash though, RIP Gary[] Col.

I would have to agree with playsatan2, but at the end of the day if you have a big crash or off no matter how safe the car is the end result can be very bad.

Your insurers will likely throw their hands up in horror, too. Drive carefully, watch out for others' poor driving and your car will be as safe as any other without doing something like this.
jcscoob Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Well Davie i know where you are coming from, when we had our smash it was down to the car not being right Nik had posted on here asking about handling problems then a week later the car left the road with NO warning wot so ever[] Nik was due baby number 2 on the sat and it was the night before but Me Nik Jake and new baby survied somehow and she had the baby a couple of days later.
