z1000 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I'm going to be doing my first track day on the 9th of june and wondered if it's worth buying a set of red stuff pads ? as i'd like to have brakes on the way home. Car is a '03 Sti PPP with about 320bhp Also don't want to wreck my ppf7s and pirellis so would i be ok with a set of 17's with 205/45's yokohamas which i've got in the shed. Steve
Gumball Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I would buy a set of Mintex 1155 pads. red stuff IMHO are the worst pads ive used on track. spare alloys with yokos is a good idea.
andrew_lally Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 i agree with gumball here.....ebc stuff is ok for the boy racers but they aint relly up to the job of trying to stop a more powrfull vehicle!! my mate put them on his cossie for going to knockhill...brand new...and he had them on fire!!! standard brakes are going to take a real pounding!!!!....spare track wheels is a superb idea...slicks would be better!!! regards andy
P1 NUT Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Mintex M1155, M1166 or Ferodo DS2500, DS3000 for trackdays and they will last for a good few trackdays and road driving.
z1000 Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 Cheers guys i had 1155's on the old car and they were great but never tried them on track. Tried alloys on today but they don't clear them brembo's so guess the pirellis are getting a tanning.
