danno Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 One of my local filing stations has recently started stocking 102 ron petrol (at the disturbing price of 242p per litre) I'd like to ask people with a better technical knowledge than mine, if I run my Scooby (a WRX type UK) on this, will the engine management system release a new reservoir of power to me (having being restricted by the usual 97 ron rubbish it's used to) or would I be paying an extra 140p a litre for a marginal increase in performance? Cheers
Deano 666 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 hello danno, you were up early?? the new fuel you have seen, will make a noticeable differance to your cars performance. ie better throttle responce, give it a go. try not to mix it with to much of the normal unleaded, that is allready in your tank, try and run it low before you re fill, to get the best results. Deano666.
baser999 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 242p a litre - hope they pour it out of a bottle to you for that sort of price - is it sold by the case?
granby Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 242 a litre your having a laugh BP, much cheaper to put in some octane booster [Y]
Dalthegooner Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 At 242p a litre its just not worth it. Someone at BP must have been on something when theyt cane up with that [:S] As Granby said, octane booster is untold amounts cheaper [Y]
Wee Jock Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Better off popping down to Lydd Airport, they sell 142 octane fuel for the same price as normal unleaded! [Y] That will really make your car go like stink and it wont break the bank! []
rossyboywrx Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 try tesco 99 (octane) its better and cheaper than optimax so ive been told
danno Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Deano - I wasn't up early, I was up late. The joys of drinking too much Red Bull on a night out [] Thanks for the advice all, I think I'll stay away from BP for the time being and maybe go the additive route. Or maybe the occasional trip down to Lydd [] [H]
Little H Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 There was a similar post i put up a while ago and after speaking to a couple of tuners about it you will have to be careful as this fuel is significantly different to standard Optimax or Ultimate and could cause detonation problems if not used on a properly mapped car...
