Removing the clock

Recommended Posts

I'm going to wire up my road angel a bit cleaner by shoving the cable down behind the clock instead of running it round. Plus part of the installation of my existing ciggy socket splitter is looking a bit suspect so I thought I'd take the change to clean it up a bit with some proper workmanship.

So how do I remove the clock to get that wire down the back of it?

Just give it a good hard tug, you should be good at that! :-)

Just watch you don't spill, sorry break the 2 clips at the front, they can be a tad tricky to get out.

Just pull that whole plastic thingy out that holds the clock.

The front nearest the window will come out first if you lift it with the lip just above the clock.

Once out you can disconnect the clock and you will see the screws holding it in.

Its held in well but if you pull hard enough it will come out. Second time arround

will be easier.

Open you cup holder fully and take a philips screwdriver to remove the 2 visible screws.

Remove cup holder and air vent.

You now have enough space for your hand to get in underneath the clock and ease it out gently.

Job done correctly and you shouldn't have any broken clips.[:)]

Peter. I don't have cup holders there. The 05 cars have the redesigned interior.

I think I know what you mean though.

Will have a go at the weekend if my mate brings my soldering iron back as I need it for the other tidy up work I'm planning.

I understand now mate.

You can borrow my soldering iron and i could bring to the meet tonight if you want and maybe go for a spin in my car too.

Thanks for the offer Peter, but he's bringing it round so I'm sorted.

My "hack" of wiring my 3 port ciggy splitter into the back of the proper socket seems a wee bit tempremental if I jiggle the wires so I'm going to wire that up properly.

I fancy doing something else, but can't really think of anything to do. I'm in a fixit mood.
