UPRATED CLUTCH ADVICE??

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be looking for a new clutch soon for my P1.

Going to be running around 330bhp or so, and looking for a clutch that can take a bit of abuse up the quarter mile with the odd full bore starts [6]

Want to keep it drivable around town though as much as poss.

Should i go uprated or standard? whats everyone else got fitted as when i go to crail i see some CRAZY starts off the line and cars seem to be ok! [*-)]

Speak to the guys at API Engines down south. I got an exedy clutch fitted to my type r , they said they can handle nearly 400 bhp so should be ok! It was delivered the next day for a good price too.

I can supply specially designed organic clutches rated to 400lb/ft  & 450bhp( I run one on my 400bhp, 380lb/ft RA and it is great) for 385 pounds.

Comes with cover, plate, alignment tool and release bearing. Because it is organic and not a paddle clutch, the feel is about as OE as you can get and all for the same cost as an OE STi clutch.

Better to fit a clutch that will take 400lb/ft now than need to fit one later when your mods take you about the rating of a 330bhp car.

REMEMBER...................torque kills clutches not BHP!

i went for the dreaded AP 4 paddle clutch....superb on track...superb for 6000 rpm launches!!!

absolute nightmare in the car parks....and have blown 2 gearboxes since i stuck it in!!!

maybe coincidence though!!!

im looking at getting an organic and keeping the paddle for ma track scoob if it ever gets completed...lol

not a tricky job....just like doing a RWD motor mate.....apart from the clutch fork location pin it is very straight forward!!!!

the clutch fork location pin needs to be rmoved before the box can slide out!!!
