baser999 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Got Smart Solutions coming out on Monday to sort out the scuff on my front wheel - they reckon it'll be sorted in a couple of hours - we'll see [] Was going down to Spit and Polish as recommended by Markie but its far easier for me at the moment to get it done at home - thanks anyway for the recommendation Mark []
baser999 Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 Sorted - must avoid hitting any more bricks now []

baser999 Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 They seem to charge £55 plus vat per wheel regardless of the state they're in - I'd only scuffed mine about 6ins along the rim so on a £ for £ basis its perhaps not as cheap as someone who's riding in the gutter and constantly smacking the rims on the kerb [] Markie recommended me to Spit and Polish but it wasn't convenient to leave the wheel there for 24 hours - no idea what they charge.

SCOOBYTOO Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 lepsons gillingham charge iro £45 perb wheel thats for a full refurb though
baser999 Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 thanks Dean - that makes me feel better - only needed 6in of rim doing on mine so could have had the whole wheel done and saved money - may as well go and smack up a kerb []

baser999 Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 Yes, I'm very happy with it - he was on site about 45 mins - cleaned off all the sh*t, 're-rimmed' it, rubbed down a small scrape I had on a spoke then sprayed and lacquered. My wheels have only been on a couple of months so obviously matching the colour wasn't a problem for him - I would imagine that if your wheels are that bit older and been much more subjected to the weather it would take that bit longer to colour match so all 4 are the same.
leon Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 how was the quality of the workmanship and do you have any pics
baser999 Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 As I say, I'm very pleased with the work - the wheel looks like new and by the time its as dirty as the others it'll look exactly the same lol. Sorry no pictures - even if I had taken any I wouldn't have a clue how to post them [:$] Are you going to Japfest Saturday? If not and you want to pop by and have a look, I'm just off Plumstead Common pm me.
Wee Jock Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Sorry to hi-jack your thread but while we are on the subject has anyone used Wickedwheels? They are a mobile alloy wheel refurbisher, think they charge £65 + vat! http://www.wickedwheels.com/Services.htm
baser999 Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 They were the other firm I rang - since I'd never used this sort of service before I thought I'd go with the cheapest []
