4Hero Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Howdy, Just taken a wee visit to Ian Grieve in Falkirk today as I am going to buy a black one in a few weeks: Was offered a fairly decent price for my 53 plate wrx trading in, 21k on the clock, full dealer history, one owner, tracker.. Fair amount do you recon? That was them dealing with the few thing needing done to mine, stone chips, 20k service & 4 tyres.. Should I try to sell privately? Do you recon I will get more? Selling privately is a pain in the ass, but if I could get quite a bit more than their offer I may give it a go. Autotrader seems to vary drastically on similar spec to mine so it's pretty hard to tell... thanks in advance []
G.T. Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 ive been looking at cars lately and have been offered more in a trade in for my 51 plate uk300 with 35k on the clock, but you are right selling privately is a pain in the ass, i know gav and ruby wont be happy at me saying this but you could always try another dealer to see what they would give you for it.
oobster Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Parkers are quoting £11,465 for a part-ex, so sounds about right Neil. Bagsy first shot! []
4Hero Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 thanks lads, forgot to mention no finance [] Will that get me even more for mine if its a cash sale?
wrxmania Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Also depends on the price of the car you are getting - if you are paying the huge list price for the car then you'll get a better trade-in. AT that trade in price I'd bite their hand off - they are hard to shift at the moment. Brian []
fai17 Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Best bet is to do your homework and do a search on the internet to see what subaru dealer has the car you want and phone them up to do a deal. That's how i've bought my last 3 cars and had to travel to london to get the last one tho but you'll be suprise at how much it can be between different dealers. I can do it for you if you want but it's a doddle and play between the dealers and local is not always the cheapest.[]
sma01 Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 seems a pretty fair price to me mate, i work in the motor trade and have seen a lot worse prices offered than that, as Gav will probably tell you subarus are 1 of the hardest cars to price, you may as well throw the guide out of the window.....on the subject of guides, Andy, wouldnt listen to anything parkers have to say mate, its a £2.50 magazine that no dealer uses, we use Glass's or CAP, both of which cost around £70 per month.....sorry to moan, but as a salesman that is one of my pet hates..... anyway, back on the subject, you will get a good deal from Gav, he got me a cracking deal on my car.... scott
paul_young2 Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Was speaking to saleswoman from WEIR,S SUBARU who was saying that they were finding it hard to get good secondhand models for their forecourt, might be worth a try ?
