gogsie
Any Ideas? Was at Knockhill on Saturday and had the car on the track (great fun - great day). First few runs were no problem apart from a spin He He! [:$] Started having a problem on the last 2 runs. Problem was when chucking it into the hairpin (In 2nd or 3rd) I would start accelerating down the pit straight and the engine would cut out at about 5-6k rpm just after the corner. Only for a second and then would come back on. Didn't happen if I took the hairpin a bit easier but was a bit worrying. Could this be caused by fuel surge or oil surge? I'm thinking fuel as I was down to 1/3 of a tank by the last couple of runs, quarter by the end! Anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? [:^)] Link to comment
ANDYJDMSTI
Fuel starvation!! when taking the hairpin all the fuel is sloshed to the other side of the tank............ solution - Have more fuel i.e about half a tank at least. [] Link to comment
fai17
Yes m8.Me and G.Mac that problem too and we were at 1/2 tank so we pop down to shell at Powmill and filled up. No problem after that. It's like hitting a brick wall when fuel surge happens. At least your car is still running as mines is off the road the now with a blown up pipe.[] I think it'll stay off the road till i get other mods is done.i.e turbo,fmic,injector.als...so on and so on. Just like what i said "If it's broke then UPGRADE it" Link to comment
gogsie
Cheers Lads, Thought it might be. A bit of a pain because you really don't want to have to run on a full tank all the time but I guess -needs must and all that. I have seen mods in Scoobymag where guys have fitted dual fuel pumps, is that due to fuel surge or is that just to try and distribute equal fuel to each cylinder? Link to comment
john mac
A thing called a swirl pot cures fuel starvation under severe cornering and braking, think you can get an alloy one for about 100 quid! Link to comment
