Heat Wrap

Folks,

Couple of questions

Firsty, will 25 foot by 2 inches be enough heat wrap for a decat downpipe on a newage?

Secondly - I'm putting on a classic up-pipe as it doesn't have a cat, it has the heatshielding in place, is it worth wrapping over that or am i talking rubbish, if so how much more wrap would i need?

Once you wrap and put on the steel cable ties do you need to paint it or anything as i've seen some people have.... ?

Cheers,

Chris

speak to dunc @ hypertech on 01324 812212 regarding heat shield for turbo, he has some kits that you can use to wrap the turbo, got it on mine and seems to work pretty well....

25ft of 2" was too short .

When I did mine I found that I ran out with about a foot of pipe still to do , including the open-neck part [:@]

I was allowing a good 50% overlap .

Greersport  fitted the d/p and finished wrapping it for me , so I can't say how much more required , but I'd guess half as much again .

I didn't use any paint or coating on it as I reckon that it is better to leave it breathable .

The heat from the d/p will quickly evaporate any water that gets splashed onto it .

I wouldn't bother wrapping the uppipe if it has the original heatshields fitted.

HTH,

Al.
